India is a country deeply rooted in culture and traditions. The concept behind Jhoomer (a Hindi word that translates to Chandelier) was to create a space that felt rich, luxurious, and dripping with gold. Bed and Breakfasts are usually more informal, but they have their own personalities, which ended up being the foundation of the inspiration behind Jhoomer: to create a grand experience enveloped in history and culture. The key idea was to create an aesthetic by combining features from Art Deco, Bohemian style, and traditional Indian elements.

The colour palette and materials were chosen for their ability to appear opulent. These included Calacatta Gold and Portoro marble, black marble with gold veins, golden ornamentation, and damask wallpapers, tied together with a palette of deep emerald, crimson, royal blue, and nectar yellow.

The most important feature is the central dining area, which is an open-plan space, targeted to receive the maximum amount of foot traffic. The dining is connected to a buffet, as well as a cafe/bar service counter, both of which are open to any person accessing the space. The dining area rests directly under the double-height ceiling, giving a sense of vastness to the space, further reinforced by the water feature mirroring the chandelier suspended above. Every little detail, including the tufting and studding on the chairs, adds to the rich experience. A museum walkway on the other side of the dining area harks back to the culture and heritage of the space, while encouraging more people to access the B&B.

The entry connects to a souvenir shop, an information desk, a lounge room, and a waiting room, all designed to give importance to the space. The balcony overlooks the dining area and acts as a pathway for those accessing rooms or the banquet space. Jhoomer has been designed to resemble a chandelier, glistening and glimmering in all its glory, with increased importance given to incandescent lighting. Jhoomer is more than a Bed and Breakfast; it is a culturally rich extravagant experience.
